Judgment in the book of revelation
The book of Revelation is filled with descriptions of judgment, and it may seem that it is intended to scare all people who do not dare to repent and believe in God. But this is really wrong.
Some miss understandings about judgment
Assumption | Reality |
---|---|
The book is addressed to unbelievers to repent and become Christians. | No, it is addressed to church(es) so that believers become more committed. |
It should create fear and scare people | No, fear and manipulation should not be attributes of the church, but are shown to be attributes of the beast. The church and this book act via worship, testimony, perseverance and prayer. And again: It is directed at the Church. |
The only purpose of judgment is to bring punishment | No, judgment scenes are used to expose the devil, to shake false securities or to challenge people to make a clear decision. Of course there is also the issue of punishment, but not in the way you think, see the topic of heaven and hell. Furthermore in many cases the cause is not God, but demons or the devil. Also in the Old Testament, the blessings and curses are listed as an educational element: “If you still do not listen.” |
Judgment is the main theme in Revelation | The main theme is worship coupled with testimony/witnessing. |
